New Service for Cancelling Appointments

We realise it can be difficult to get through on the telephone especially first thing in the morning. It can be time consuming trying to call so now we have a mobile number for you to text if you are unable to attend your appointment. All you need to do is text leaving your name/d.o.b and the date & time of the appointment you wish to cancel. This will help to reduce the number of wasted appointments.

Please make a note of the number:-

07404 324649

Please ensure we have your up to date mobile number. Please speak to reception if it needs updating.

*Please note: This mobile number only accepts text messages to cancel appointments; it does not accept incoming calls and other requests.

Better Care Together

Better care together (BCT) is a significant programme of work which will transform the health and social care system in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland (LLR) by 2019.

BCT brings together partners, including local NHS organisations and councils, to ensure that services change to meet the needs of local people. We are also working closely with public and patient involvement (PPI) representatives to develop plans for change.

Travel Advice

Preparing For Holidays

It is always a wise precaution to pack some essential items in case of illness on holiday. Do choose medicines according to your needs and the country you are visiting. If you take prescription medicines regularly remember to pack then too.

Holiday Kit

  • Paracetamol
  • Travel sickness tablets
  • Plasters
  • Rehydration solutions such as Dioralyte
  • Anti-diarrhoeal, e.g. Imodium
  • High factor sunscreen; calamine lotion

Immunisation

Always check whether you need any immunisations or malarial tablets before you travel. To do this print off the ‘Travel Form’ in the Forms section of our website, fill it in and make an appointment with one of our practice nurses. She will check the vaccinations you have already had against the requirements for the area you are travelling to.

She will advise on vaccinations required and precautions you should take.

We stock most vaccinations that are available on the NHS, you should be aware that not all vaccinations are available on the NHS.

Vaccinations that are not available on the NHS will have to be purchased on your behalf and there will be a charge in this situation.

Seek advice well in advance in case you need a course of injections.

Other Essentials To Pack

  • Anti-malarials
  • Water purification tablets
  • Insect repellent
  • Condoms / other contraceptives

Medical Insurance

Arrange medical insurance.

Obtain an EHIC card if you are travelling in EEA or Switzerland. Applying for or renewing your card is free and can be done online. To find out more or apply, visit www.ehic.org.uk or call 0845 606 2030 or fill in the form available at some
Post Offices. This will entitle you to free or reduced cost medical care within the EEA and Switzerland. Take the card with you on holiday. (Care can still be very expensive even with an EHIC Card.)

There will be a fee for this.
