Groby Road Medical Centre

Appointments

Our phone lines and doors are open between 7:45AM & 18:30PM Monday – Friday. We offer pre bookable appointments up to 5 days in advance and these can be booked at any point during our opening hours. If you are calling due to an emergency appointment we advise you call 999 in the first instance. If we cannot accommodate an appointment we will sign post you accordingly.

Patient Responsibility

Patients should attend their appointments at the arranged time. Should the person be running late or can no longer attend, they should inform the surgery as soon as possible.

There is no available parking on site for patients (unless you hold a blue badge) however there is plenty of street parking available in the vicinity of the practice.

We expect that patients will understand that appointments are for one person only. Additional appointments should be made for more than one person.

Role of reception

Our Receptionists provide an important link for patients with the practice and are your initial contact point for general enquiries. They can provide basic information on services and results and direct you to the right person depending on your health issue or query. They make most of the patient appointments with the GPs and nurses. They also perform other important tasks such as issuing repeat prescriptions and dealing with prescription enquiries and dealing with patient records. Our team will ask you for a small amount of information to inform the medical staff of what the appointment is in relation too and we ask you to be patient with our Receptionists during peak times as staff have to deal with an excessive amount of calls and enquiries.

Friends & Family Test

The Friends & Family test is a way of gathering anonymous feedback about your recent experience and it will enable us to understand what we do well and what aspects of the care we offer could be improved. The responses you give are not linked to your name or your medical records in any way.

Who can give feedback?

Any patient registered with the practice can give feedback after each and every contact if you want to. As a carer or relative you can also give feedback. What if I need more help to complete the questions? Your carers, friends and relatives or our staff can help you but they must try not to answer for you.

How will my comments be used?

The staff at the practice will meet regularly to look at your anonymous feedback and to see what action can be taken. We will then share with all patients the feedback themes and anything we have done as a result of your comments.

Do I have to respond to the questions?

No, participation is totally voluntary but if you do respond you will provide valuable information for us to ensure you have the best possible experience of care. We are keen to hear from you, whether your feedback is positive negative or indifferent.

If you wish to fill out a Friends & Family test please ask for a form at reception.
