How to get travel vaccinations

We offer a full range of vaccinations for foreign travel. For all advice and information regarding foreign travel please call the surgery who will ask you to collect and complete a form ahead of your appointment with the Practice Nurse which will have to be at least 8 weeks before departure so that immunisation(s) can be completed.

Please note that if we cannot administer a travel vaccine you will be given information of Private Travel Clinics that can administer the vaccines you require.

Travel Advice

It is always a wise precaution to pack some essential items in case of illness on holiday. Do choose medicines according to your needs and the country you are visiting. If you take prescription medicines regularly remember to pack them too.

Holiday Kit

  • Paracetamol
  • Travel sickness tablets
  • Plasters
  • Rehydration solutions such as Dioralyte
  • Anti-diarrhoeal, e.g. Imodium
  • High factor sunscreen; calamine lotion

Medical Insurance

We advise you to arrange medical insurance. Obtain an EHIC card if you are travelling in EEA or Switzerland. Applying for or renewing your card is free and can be done online. To find out more or apply, visit www.ehic.org.uk or call 0845 606 2030 or fill in the form available at some
Post Offices. This will entitle you to free or reduced cost medical care within the EEA and Switzerland. Take the card with you on holiday. (Care can still be very expensive even with an EHIC Card.)
